Embernel/Ranking policy

Ranking policy

What money cannot buy here.

Our products are only useful if their output is not for sale. This page sets out how rankings are decided, what commercial relationships exist, and how to challenge a result.

Last updated 1 September 2026 · Applies to all Embernel products

Draft — needs your review This page is a working template written to match how the group is described elsewhere on the site. Check every statement against what you actually do before publishing, and have a lawyer review the final wording. Placeholders are marked in square brackets.

The commitment

No company in the Embernel group accepts payment in exchange for a ranking, a placement, a rating, a review, or the removal of any of these. There is no package that changes where a product appears, and no amount of spend that will change it. This applies to advertisers, partners, and to our own products.

If someone offers you a paid placement on one of our properties, it did not come from us. Please tell us about it.

How rankings are decided

Ordering is produced by a documented scoring model, not by editorial preference or commercial relationship. The inputs are:

Vendors can improve their position by improving these things. There is no other route.

How we make money

Being honest about ranking means being honest about revenue. Across the group:

[Confirm this list matches your actual revenue lines and remove anything that does not apply.]

Editorial independence

Written comparisons and guides are produced independently of any commercial team. Writers do not know which products are affiliate partners at the time of writing, and commercial staff do not review editorial content before publication.

Corrections and disputes

If you believe a ranking, review or listing is wrong, write to integrity@embernel.com with the URL and what you believe is inaccurate. We will:

Vendors may dispute a score, but disputing it does not pause it, and we do not remove accurate negative information on request.

Review integrity

We remove reviews that are incentivised, submitted by the vendor or a competitor, or that cannot be tied to a verifiable account. We do not remove reviews for being unfavourable. Vendors may publicly respond to any review about them.

Changes to this policy

Material changes are dated and summarised here rather than made silently. If we change how scoring works in a way that moves results, we say so.

[Maintain a short changelog below once the first revision happens.]
